Visual Attention, Human Behavior & AI Research Lab. The Science of Stopping Power.

Stopper Lab measures how visual and video content affects human attention and behavior, using behavioral analysis, artificial intelligence, eye tracking, EEG and GSR/EDA data together. It is structured within Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Communication as the Visual Attention and Human Behavior Research Laboratory.

Not a classic biometric lab. Five data layers around one research problem.

Stopper Lab is not only a research laboratory that happens to own biometric devices. What sets it apart is the ability to evaluate human behavior, artificial intelligence, visual attention, neurophysiological activity and physiological arousal around the same research problem. The systems can be used independently or in simultaneous multimodal research.

Behavior. AI. Eye. Brain. Body.

GSR/EDA does not on its own indicate positive or negative emotion. This is a methodological principle we protect in every study.

  • Stopper Analyze (Behavioral Analysis): Scrolling, stopping, clicks, interactions, duration and user journey, recorded in a simulated feed on the participant’s own device.
  • Stopper AI (AI-Based Visual Intelligence): Visual hierarchy, saliency, attention simulation, heatmap, typography, color and contrast, negative space and other computational analyses.
  • Eye Tracking (Visual Attention): Gaze, fixation, fixation duration, dwell time, scanpath, AOI and related gaze metrics, captured with Pupil Labs Neon.
  • EEG (Neurophysiological Response): Examination of neurophysiological changes through the EEG signal, according to the research design, with the 14-channel EMOTIV EPOC X.
  • GSR / EDA (Physiological Arousal): Skin conductance and time-dependent changes in physiological arousal with Shimmer3R GSR+. GSR/EDA alone does not indicate positive or negative emotion; this is a methodological principle we protect.

Initial research infrastructure, defined in the BAP project.

Stopper Analyze and Stopper AI are Stopper’s technology layers and can be added to this infrastructure according to the research design.

  • Pupil Labs Neon — Eye Tracking
  • EMOTIV EPOC X — 14-channel Wireless EEG
  • Shimmer3R GSR+ — GSR / EDA + PPG

Not every project needs every method. The research design is built to need.

This modular approach allows commercial packages to be formed, from a single AI analysis up to the full Stopper Lab analysis.

Academic research and applied commercial research in one ecosystem.

The laboratory is structured within Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Communication, with official research laboratory status foreseen in the BAP project. The legal and institutional relationship between academic research and commercial services is handled within a separate university–industry cooperation protocol.

  • Research is grounded in the academic literature.
  • Studies produce experimental, measurable data.
  • Every study is subject to the appropriate ethical processes.
  • Human participant research follows informed consent and data security principles.
  • Results can be reported to support commercial decision processes.

The difference comes from the approach, not the number of sensors.

  • Not only an eye tracking laboratory.
  • Not only an EEG laboratory.
  • Not only an AI tool.
  • Not limited to testing social media advertising.
  • Not confined to the concept of neuromarketing.
  • Never claims to “read what people feel”.
